This article will provide you with the necessary information to help monitor your Ruckus Wireless Access Points using the standard built in Zabbix SNMP Templates. Monitoring will be carried out on in Zabbix Passive mode via SNMP.
Ruckus Access Point SNMP Setup
To enable SNMP on your Ruckus Wireless Access Point you can either log into the front end portal page or use the second option below using PUTTY, if you don’t have the front end SNMP option, (Depending On Model). Once you have enabled (SNMP) move on to the Zabbix Front-End setup instructions listed below to start monitoring.

Enable SNMP via PUTTY
Download PUTTY and then connect to your Ruckus Wireless Access Point via either a Terminal Session or SSH Session. You will then need to carry out the following commands listed below to setup and enable SNMP.
Ruckus Command Line Interface SNMP:
|rkscli: set snmp
-> community ro <name> — read-only community name
-> community rw <name> — read-write community name
-> manager <ip> — SNMP manager IP address
rkscli: set snmp community ro PUBLICKEY
When using the command line in (GREEN) change both [PublicKey] and [PrivateKey] to a word of your choice and also replace the “SNMP Manager” with your Zabbix IP Address. Once done, use the [get snmp] command to verify the details were set, then exit the command line interface and log into the Zabbix Front End portal.
Zabbix Front End Template Setup
Log into the Zabbix Front-End interface and create a [Host] with the following attributes below.
Hostname: Name Of Your Choice (OR) Hostname Of Device
SNMP Interface: IP Address Of Your Device / Port (161)
Select: Template Module Interfaces Simple SNMPv2
Value: ” This Will Be Your Public Key, See Below, Call It What You Want”
Change Auto-Discovery Update Value For Template
(Template Module Interfaces Simple SNMPv2)
From 3600 (60 Minutes) To 600 (10 Minutes)
